The Story Behind Salt + Pine

Two years ago we (well Kristen) came up with this crazy idea that we should start our own business… a home staging business.  We both wanted a change in our careers, we wanted to work together, do something that we loved and have more flexible time at home with our children.

Needless to say we jumped. We quickly decided on a name, Redesigned.  We thought this would fit what we were doing… redesigning homes to get them ready to sell.  We registered our name with the state well before we even started our training!  We spent a few months taking classes and getting certified.  Once our business was up and running we slowly started to figure out who we are as stagers.  If you look at a stagers portfolio you can see their “style”.  Every stager has a slightly unique look that they bring to a stage.

We cultivated our style and as we grew we realized that Redesigned doesn’t fit our brand… it doesn’t represent us.  Not to mention it's hard to say and hard to spell.  Everyone leaves off the -ed.  So many things we didn’t think about when we started!

Our style has evolved to what we call Timeless and On Trend; traditional with a modern flare and a slight coastal vibe.   We create warm, open and inviting spaces with crisp, clean, natural, light and bright tones.  We want our logo, our brand to reflect that.

We are a Rhode Island based small business and we love our small state!  We started thinking about what name encompassed Rhode Island, our staging style and who we are personally.  We came up with:

Two years ago we had built houses (next door to each other) in a beautiful development called Pine Estates…..thus the pine.  Daily we are each surrounded by the natural beauty of pine trees yet the ocean is 20 minutes away.  The ocean has provided us a place to relax and unwind, to gather as a family since we were children….. thus the salt :)

Salt and Pine is the epitome of Little Rhody… you can be completely surrounded by woods… and then sitting on the beach in under an hour.  We stage all properties across Rhode Island (and beyond in MA and CT) but we always bring some Salt + Pine to each stage.

Best,

Kristen and Amy
